Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is this cryptocurrency?

No. A better comparison to use is PayPal or M-Pesa. M-Pesa is a mobile money transfer service widely used in Kenya. The Two-way Strong payment processing system is like PayPal and M-Pesa combined.

  2. Is this like Apple Pay, Android Pay, or Google Pay?

Partly yes and no. The customer's mobile phone can send essential information to the merchant's terminal within a few centimeters using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. But the Two-way Strong system doesn't require the registration and storage of any credit card number. No credit card number is ever transmitted.

  3. Do I need a credit card?

No. A credit card is not needed.

  4. Do I need a bank account?

No. A bank account is not needed.

  5. Is there a maximum amount that can be sent?

Practically no. The payer may send any amount. However, the Two-way Strong system implements technical controls to limit the number of large and excessive amounts per user within a time period. For instance, a registered user can only send $10,000 once in a given month.

  6. Is there a fee for returning payment back as a result of a cancelation or a dispute?

No. There's no chargeback fee. There's only one fee (the payment transaction fee) that's applied at the time of payment submission.

  7. Who pays the transaction fee?

Payment of the transaction fee depends on one of two contexts. (1) When a payment is sent using the Payment function in the Budget Manager application or the Web application, the payer is obligated to pay the transaction fee. (2) When a payment is made with the Merchant Register application or is associated with a merchant sales order, the merchant is obligated to pay the transaction fee. In either event, the Two-way Strong system automatically creates a separate transaction record that debits the amount of the fee from the respective user's account, immediately upon a successful payment submission.

  8. Do I also pay the login fee along with the transaction fee?

No. The login fee doesn't apply with payment processing.

  9. How do I get cash from the Two-way Strong system?

You must go to an approved and authorized Two-way Strong money transfer agent. The authorized agent will ask for government-issued identification to verify your identity. If your account shows a negative balance, you are obligated to pay the negative balance. The authorized agent will only pay you when you have a positive balance. You can specify the entire balance amount or a partial amount for pay out in cash. The authorized agent may be able to pay in another currency other than your local currency.

  10. How do you protect my personal information?

Personal information that can identify you such as your legal name, your home address, your phone number, your e-mail address, and government identification number are encrypted and stored in the database in an encrypted format. The encrypted format appears to a human in a coded form that cannot be understood and is useless without deciphering the content into readable language.

For more on information security and your privacy, please review the Two-way Strong Privacy Policy.

  11. Do you share my personal information?

Personal information is not shared with any third-party organization that hasn't registered in the Two-way Strong system. You may have certain legal protections under applicable law. If you've given your consent to be contacted by merchants, approved merchants who are listed in your Payee list may use your address and contact information to contact you about their products and/or services. The number of approved merchants is limited to those who had received a payment from you in a past transaction.

Please review the Two-way Strong Privacy Policy for more information.

  12. How do you handle my financial information?

Financial information is treated as private and confidential and will not be shared with any registered user and any third-party organization. You may have certain legal protections under applicable law.

Please review the Two-way Strong Privacy Policy for more information.

  13. Do you sell any of my information?

No. Information that you submit and that is associated with your account (both personal and financial) will not be sold to any third-party organization.

  14. How do I get started?

First, you need to register as a consumer or as a merchant. Download and install the Two-way Strong User Authenticator, and then open the application and click on User Registration. Fill out all required fields and click on Submit.

Finally, download and install the Two-way Strong Budget Manager, and then open the application and begin to use the functions. If you try to use Budget Manager before installing User Authenticator, you will be denied access and prompted to download the User Authenticator application.

  15. What do I do, if I don't have an Android device?

You can use the Web application version. To get started, fill out the online User Registration form. After you register, you can sign in and begin to use the functions.
